Karnataka to write letters to SC/ST/OBCs and minorities to avail benefits

BANGALORE: Following the loan waiver by chief minister Siddaramaiah, social welfare minister H Anjaneya said a Speed Post would be sent to every beneficiary asking them not pay loan amounts they had taken earlier.

The minister said more than 7.60 lakh SC/ST andOBC people will benefit by the loan waiver and orders have been issued on this front. "There is no example in the country where the chief minister announced a loan weaver on the first day of taking oath as CM. Siddaramaiah has shown what a CM can do. Still the message of loan waiver is yet to reach many people. So the department heads will be spending Speed Posts to beneficiaries not to pay their loan amount," Anjaneya told reporters on Saturday.

Within hours of becoming chief minister on May 13, he went on to announce the waiving of loans taken via various state-run corporations by SC/ST/OBCs and minorities.
